Unsolicited Grant Service (UGS) This is equivalent to CBR in ATM and is intended for applications that have real-time data streams consisting of fixed-size data packets generated at periodic intervals Examples include T1/E1 services For this type of service, BS grants fixed-size bandwidths periodically to SSs associated with the service flows without being solicited for the bandwidth by the SSs The size of the bandwidth grants at periodic intervals is sufficient to transport the fixed-size data needed by the service flow Real-time Polling Service (rtPS) rtPS is designed for real-time traffic with variable size packets generated at periodic intervals Examples of such traffic are MPEG video stream, VoIP with silence compression, and so on For this type of service, SSs are given opportunities to specify their bandwidth needs by means of periodic unicast polling If the bandwidth requests are within the realm of what can be granted, the bandwidth is granted to the SS Non-real-time Polling Service (nrtPS) nrtPS is designed to support delaytolerant data traffic for which a minimum data rate is required Examples of such traffic include various forms for Internet data transfer protocols In order for SSs to provide this type of service, the BS provides bandwidth request opportunities to the SS by means of unicast polling on a regular basis at an interval comparable to 1 sec Additionally, contention-based broadcast/multicast polling may be used by the SS to request bandwidth allocations dynamically as needs arise Best-effort Service (BE) BE, as the name suggests, is designed to transport data traffic on a best-effort basis with no minimum service level specified In order to provide this type of service, SSs use broadcast/multicast polling mechanisms to request necessary bandwidth SSs providing this kind of services may also be given transmission opportunities to request bandwidth using unicast polling

When a function is called from within a try block, you can restrict what type of exceptions that function can throw In fact, you can also prevent that function from throwing any exceptions whatsoever To accomplish these restrictions, you must add a throw clause to a function definition The general form of this is shown here ret-type func-name(arg-list) throw(type-list) { // } Here, only those data types contained in the comma-separated type-list may be thrown by the function Throwing any other type of expression will cause abnormal program termination If you don t want a function to be able to throw any exceptions, then use an empty list Attempting to throw an exception that is not supported by a function will cause the unexpected( ) function to be called Generally, this function, in turn, calls terminate( ) You can specify your own unexpected exception handler using set_unexpected( ) The following program shows how to restrict the types of exceptions that can be thrown from a function

Being able to provide multicast services so that bandwidth is not wasted on transmitting identical packets to each and every recipient, is very important for wireless networks as they have limited transmission resources Such networks are routinely expected to use multicast services for applications such as video surveillance, TV broadcast, online games, or point-to-multipoint virtual LAN services Shared medium networks such as PMP RF-wireless networks also provide an ideal ground for providing multicasting services, and WiMAX is no exception WiMAX supports multicast connections that can be used for multicast services on the downlink (transmission from BS to SS) The BS does so by associating a connection (and a CID) with the multicast service and associating all the SSs in the multicast group with the connection The CID used for the multicast service is the same for all the SSs in the same channel that are in the multicast group The standard does not
